Who We Are
We are the largest university legal assistance program in the nation providing free and confidential citizenship and immigration law services since 1997. We believe in empowering immigrants to be in control of their immigration cases and use a model of legal assistance called pro se, which means we help immigrants represent themselves. Through this model, our attorneys and paralegals help thousands of individuals each year, all on the path to citizenship. In addition to our one-on-one services, we have also developed a model to help large groups with their immigration applications. Annually, we hold 10 or more community-based events, not including seminars or classes, powered by the members of the CUNY Citizenship Now! Volunteer Corps.
What We Do
Joining the CUNY Citizenship Now! Volunteer Corps allows you to contribute to our nationally recognized model for assisting immigrant communities. Our volunteers have also helped us respond to emerging developments such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Asylum and Temporary Protected Status (TPS). You will also gain special access to training opportunities and will be invited to volunteer at our monthly events and with our partner organizations. For more information about membership benefits and our community-based events please visit our website. To participate in ongoing CUNY Citizenship Now! events, please register for the CUNY Citizenship Now! Volunteer Corps. You will be immediately added to our mailing list, and you will receive email invitations for upcoming trainings and events. Our event cycle runs from October to June.
