Mobilization for Justice

Who We Are

Mobilization for Justice, formerly MFY Legal Services, envisions a society in which there is equal justice for all. Mobilization for Justice’s mission is to achieve social justice, prioritizing the needs of people who are low-income, disenfranchised or have disabilities. Mobilization for Justice offers free legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers throughout New York City to resolve legal problems in the areas of housing; foreclosure; civil, disability and aging rights; bankruptcy, tax, consumer, employment, government benefits, immigration, and kinship care. Through these services we prevent homelessness, help seniors and people with disabilities live independently, stabilize families, maintain and increase income, and address racial disparities. We established our Low-Income Bankruptcy Project to provide free assistance to New Yorkers seeking bankruptcy protection. The project has helped hundreds of people obtain a fresh financial start in bankruptcy, discharging over $30 million in consumer debt while avoiding evictions, foreclosures, and wage garnishment.

What We Do

Mobilization for Justice offers myriad opportunities for members of the private bar and retired attorneys to make important contributions to our mission. We provide training and ongoing mentoring to all pro bono attorneys.
